Whats a video splitter ?
Just as it says really, a box ( normally) that takes your video output from your ground stations receiver and splits the signal to multiple outputs.
Why do i need one ?
If you want to use multiple screens, an extra screen as well as your goggles or to a recorder of some type you will need a splitter
Why cant i use a Y splitter lead ?
The video signal degrades with the more its split, the picture quality diminishes and eventually becomes unusable.
You can split your audio this way with no ill effects but not with the video
Which ones ?
You can pick up a perfectly good video splitter or the like of Ebay for less than 10 pounds that do the job just fine.
They are normally of the 12 volt supply voltage range so can be powered off your ground station battery.
They use very little power to operate and normally provide 4 or 5 outputs.
