Proposed Spring FPV Meet
« on: December 01, 2010, 07:39:55 AM »

Hi Guys,

I would like to guage interest in a spring 2011 FPV meet and demo.
I have contacted my local club and have put the proposal to them and awaiting a reply which will probably be after their meeting on the 3rd of this month.
The location is an old WWII airfield in Bardney, Lincolnshire.
It is a very picturesque area and steeped in history. From the air you are able to see the whole of the old airfield layout from where Lancaster bombers were flown.
Close by you have, RAF Coningsby, Woodhall Spa and Lincoln with it's own cathedral and castle.
Having experienced first hand the accomodation around there I can guarantee a warm and friendly stay if required.
I personally live almost an hour away from there but prefer to fly there to any other club closer to me.
Anyway as I said, just an idea in it's embryonic stage at this point until I get some feedback.

Cheers

Chris

I will be more than happy to have a meet, it will be great to meet up with you all and have a right good knees up :)

I hopefully don`t want to travel the whole of the country if i can help it. That location looks pretty good. One of the meets everyone got moved on and we really have to avoid that at all cost. Carefull consideration to location and permissions must be sorted first but once its finalized im game :)

Hopefully we could get simon down down with some goodies :)

I've had the same Skywalker for FPV for two years now. It's had 6 new wings, 3 new canopies and 2 new fuselages.

Patsy, you and me being at extremes of the country will almost always have to travel to events. I try and work in something else to make the trip doubly worthwhile. The British Nationals is about 8 hours travelling time each way for me and at least 3 tankfuls of petrol. The site Chris is suggesting would work out about the same.
BTW this years Nationals were followed by visits to Duxford (even further away but the museum and Battle of Britain Airshow were great), London and Cosford Museum on the way back. No wife in tow so I could take as much time in each place as I wanted. :D

How about a FPV style roadshow, not one central meeting but maybe 3 more local meets.
It will help with travel costs and time and be our contribution to the green policys of the UK, keeping ommissions low. :)
Then maybe we could have competitions etc.....

Hi Chris,

As discussed by email I definitely think it's a goer and I'll be there.  It's either the weekend after L'Aigle or two weekends after L'Aigle depending on the date you choose (and supposing L'Aigle is on it's usual weekend) which works well I think.

There are a number of people who go to L'Aigle who said they'd come to a UK meet when I suggested it last year.  Several of the French guys (muppet, Antoine, Gaby) and also Sander from Holland and Heiko from Fpv-Community in Germany.  If we're lucky we might even get VRFlyer (Denis from Canada) to come because he comes over to L'Aigle each year and he may be willing to travel further.

I can cover it for RCM&E or possibly even get David Ashby to call in and take some pictures.

I can't wait!

Hi All,
I've got to say I was overwhelmed with the positive response to my idea.
I have just got off the phone to the Chairman of the Bardney Flyers and he is also well up for it BUT will obviously have to put it to the other committee members and members as well. He said he would get back to me in a couple of days.
To help me keep track of interest would all of you that are interested send me an e-mail on chris_johnson41@hotmail.com
A little more detail on the site:
There is 240 volt electricity for charging etc.
A fully fitted kitchen
A work area for fixing those slight mishaps
Hot and cold running water
and a few very nice public houses within a mile.
If anyone requires accomodation please let me know and I'll see what I can arrange.

This all depends of course on what the Chairman comes back with. I'll keep you posted

Chris
