After the holiday and hibernation - I have just woken up. I wish I hadn't because though its brilliant sunshine its -11 outside .

Back to quads I have built the frame after many attempts - but it is so ugly that I dare not show it here. I have started on the wiring and a few questions come to mind.

1. Battery: The battery has two connections one is the main power and the other is the 'balancing' connector. Is this connector used for anything else besides Balancing the cells during charging? In flight is it stowed?

2 Control Boards KK and Hobby King Copter control.- How are they powered during flight and during programming?

The 2 plugs on the battery are the discharge plug (which plugs into your ESCs) and a balance charger plug. This isn't usually used during flight (but you can use it to power various other items should you wish, such as FPV Gear or LEDs)

The flight controllers are powered from one of the ESC servo plugs during flight. The CopterControl is powered via USB when programming.

Hi Chris

Once again many thanks - so the balancer plug can be used for the low voltage alarm during flight?

Hi again

'The flight controllers are powered from one of the ESC servo plugs during flight.'

What about the other 3 servo plugs?

yes you can power the low voltage alarm via the balance plugs

on a kk board all the servos leads from the motors can ce plugged into the board so you will end up with 4 power suplies, it wont hurt it

I dont know anything about cc boards though

Glenn's right, the low voltage alarms are actually designed to fit on the end of a balance plug, so you got the right idea there.

with the ESCs plugged directly into the battery, all four servo plugs will be supplying power to whatever they're plugged into. This can be harmful to boards that do no protect against this (such as the CopterControl) and often people pull the red wire from all but 1 of these servo plugs.

The KK board is designed with this in mind, there's no requirement to pull the red wires out of the servo plugs

Still learning!!!

I am trying to flash my KK Board into an X configuration, I have a USBASP which came with the Board from MultiRC in Singapore.

My computer;s operating system is Windows 7 Ultimate.

Anyway, when I try to run the KK Tool I get a 'missing COMDLG32.OCX' message. In the download section of MultiRC I found a COMDLG32.OCX download.

I then followed the instruction in the read me text which says  'When your system displayed missing COMDLG32.OCX. Do the followings:

0. unzip "COMDLG32.zip"

1.copy COMDLG32.OCX to C:\WINDOWS\system32

2. run " regsvr32 comdlg32.ocx " (start -> run-as)

3. run KK-Tool again'

I get to item 2 but cannot find out how to ' run " regsvr32 comdlg32.ocx " (start -> run-as)'

Any ideas or do I have to get  another board configured as an X

Help please - again

the "Run..." command isn't usually in the start menu unless you put it there. here's how:

1. right click the start button and select properties

2. select "Customize..."

3. scroll down and put a tick in the "Run Command" box

4. click OK and OK again.

5. now click the start menu and you should see the "Run..." item

6. click Run... and type in the following:

7. click OK.

that should be it hopefully.

good luck

if you like (and if you trust me lol) I could remote into your PC and show you. same goes for anyone on the forum. If you have any PC issues you're stuck with let me know and I'll see if I can help.

Another option, just type run in the search box.

suppose it depends on how many times one might need it. judging by his question I'd say not a lot. therefore yes, searching for Run is quicker :)

before you start typing, the box says "search programs and files", simply by typing it's searching real time. then just before you press enter you should notice that it's "found" the Run command and is displaying it above the box you're typing in, hitting enter makes whatever is at the top of the list, open

try it with "calc"

Thanks for all your suggestions, I will try them when I get back to my apartment.

Chris - thanks for your offer of 'remote control' - how do I go about initiating it?

For "Run" you could also just try WINDOWS+R
[WINDOWS Key next to CTRL]
