FPV,BMFA AND MODEL CLUBS
« on: January 27, 2012, 12:21:51 PM »

Hi all ,well I finally took my fpv easy star to my model club meeting , some intrest was shown by yonger members and a few older ones but not all.
I know the committee have discused fpv as I asked them some time ago to think about it ,well the upshot is ,being an affiliated member of the BMFA they will only recognize their rules and not FPVUK ,and I will respect them in this , it will be ok for my spotter to be the fpv passanger with the goggles, while I fly the model, as my spotter and mate dose not fly. So untill this problem is sorted out I think most clubs will not reconise the FPVUK and all that has been achieved by them.

Because the BMFA is mostly full of grumpy old gits.

Not long ago I got told I can't learn to fly with an EPP wing and I would need to buy a .40 size glow trainer. And they wonder why the hobby shops are dying, because people get seriously put off dealing with these guys and so the hobby in that sense stagnates.

Everyone now just orders on-line and keeps to themselves and forums. It's easier that way.

Acknowledging that there is other organizations outside the BMFA :) It kills them :)

Because the BMFA is mostly full of grumpy old gits.

Which is exactly the reason why I have not been a member of the BMFA for around 20 years!  Have been a member of the LMA ever since (who use exactly the same insurance company anyway).  At least the LMA are willing to acknowledge that there are other organisations in this hobby.

Luckily our club is not BMFA affiliated and run by the farmer who owns the field, so no problems with FPV   ;D

My club is BMFA and SAA affiliated. It recognises and accepts my FPVUK insurance and the CAA exemption.
Am I in a minority then?

Also, whilst most novices learn via the 40 sized trainer route and buddybox, these are not mandatory. Electric foamies and passing the Tx between instructor and pupil are acceptable if the instructor is willing.

luck of the draw with the club and the members. I'm a lucky one too I guess.
But certainly recognise anti FPV feelings among members... So FPV is kept separate.
And I really like my club too... real nice bunch. Have no gripes with anyone.

The sheep, horses, ponies in the fields where I fly don't care, I tried explaining it to them but they just shrugged and walked off

RC clubs are full of sad old baxtards with nothing better to do than argue about irrelevant crap and blame stuff other than their total lack of flying skills for their Wot4 crashing. I avoid at all costs.

Not all are, as we can see above, but sadly the majority are lets say, less enthusiastic than others. One of my local clubs even have a plane / heli divide still, they can hardly tollerate each other

True, I'm being a bit harsh I suppose.

Still, stuff like plane/heli divides just makes me laugh. How pathetic, we're playing with flying toys FFS

Clubs suffer like everything the more of you then there become clicky elements no matter what the club is or its size. Be it mixed, heli, plane

Helis and planes do not naturaly mix well.

Heli learning is going to use the full strip and plane flyers don't like not being able to fly when they Want to. Waiting 20 mins seems silly to some.

But then 4+ planes in the air at once they don't seem to get well if you all fly together not one after one you could get more flying in and let the helis have space...

To be honest i'm surrpised no FPV only clubs have not appeared yet, and its only time before they do.

After all FPV does not require as much space as in landing/take off just a chuck model and car parking!
