Sunday morning FPV at Jack and Jill
« on: February 19, 2012, 07:27:25 PM »

This morning I took the easystar out at Jack and Jill near Hassocks West Sussex.  It was very windy with quite heavy gusts.  Therefore the flight is very shaky but the best thing is the tailwind on landing made an overestimated landing speed.  I was warned seconds before landing by my spotter a cyclist had just entered the field.  The guy on the cycle got a close encounter.  Result: camera mount popped off its magnets.

Tailwind landings are always going to end up 'interesting'

Its only my second outing doing fpv.  I usually fly helicopters at club.  Its a great spot though as the headwind allows a nice launch from the carpark over the adjacent field.  Naturally its windy up there which made a steep learning curve with respect to going 13km/h in one direction to 40-50 km/h following a turn.
I will definately go back there.  I did 3 flights there today.

I've had the same Skywalker for FPV for two years now. It's had 6 new wings, 3 new canopies and 2 new fuselages.
